As we wrap up the month of October, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights and accomplishments at New Sarepta Elementary School. October has provided several opportunities for our students to develop their social and emotional skills in Character Education Classes with Mrs. Hiller and Mrs. Bosch. It is heartwarming to see them engaging in meaningful conversation and displaying empathy towards their peers. October has been highlighted by the amazing community engagement and parent volunteers in our school. Every class took advantage of the opportunity to visit the Fire Hall and meet our local firefighters while learning the importance of fire safety. A big thank you to Clayton Fichtner for collaborating with the school to help organize this event. We also had a wonderful turnout at our parent council/ PIIE fundraiser meetings on October 16th and we are looking forward to the next meeting on November 20th starting at 7:15pm. We had a fantastic turnout for our Halloween assembly and parade. It was great to see all the siblings, parents and grandparents in the school taking part in the festivities. Thank you for another great month.

New Sarepta Community High School is hosting the ceremony jointly presented with New Sarepta Elementary School. We will also be joined by members of the Leduc Legion, a local bagpiper and other valued community members. We welcome you to join us. This is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of the men and women who have served to protect our country, especially those who lost their lives doing so. The ceremony will be Thursday, November 9 at 10:30am in the NSCHS gymnasium. Please join us, if you are able.

    Fall Book Fair – November 27th – 30th

Watch for flyers that will be coming home soon with the students, advertising a small sampling of the books that will be on sale at the fair! Once again, a schedule will be set up for classes to shop during designated recesses, so please watch for it attached to the book fair flyer, or check with your child’s teacher to find out which days they are allowed to shop. The book fair will also be open for business during P/T interview evenings, Nov 28th and 29th. Please stop by to take a look at all the terrific new books prior to Christmas! We ask that parents accompany their children when shopping or browsing during P/T Interview evenings. Thank you once again for supporting this library fundraiser. Your purchases help us bring many new books to our library!

    Parent/Teacher Interviews: Nov 28 & Nov 29

November 28 and 29, we will be hosting our first parent-teacher interviews of the school year. We are looking forward to meeting with parents to discuss your child’s learning with you. If you have any questions or concerns about parent-teacher interviews, please contact Mr. Froland. We will follow the same process as previously, whereby Mrs. Noble creates the schedule and sends home your interview times. If you require any changes once you receive your time, please contact Mrs. Noble or your child’s teacher. Thank you in advance for your continued support of your child’s education and our staff.

    CEC Reflection for October

Happy Fall Y’all! Your Character Education Team had a wonderful October.  On Thursdays we teach our students about social and emotional learning. This past month we had two lessons on gratitude. Students had a book read to them titled “The Sour Grape” and then as a school we built a bulletin board “A Grapeful Bunch”. We also discussed our top 100 grateful moments and how to start each day with a grateful heart. Grades 3-6 had social thinking reflection discussions. The topics included: The Group Plan, Thinking with our eyes, Expected and Unexpected Behaviour, Size of the Problem, Stuck Thinking vs Flexible Thinking and Whole Body Listening. Grade 1 and 2 had conversations around “we thinkers” and discussing why/when we follow a group plan. The importance of whole body listening and what it looks like. On October 24th we had a family night. Our families met online at 5:15 p.m. and prepared a delicious meal together, listened to stories while the food was baking, and then you simply ate supper together with your family! A special thank you to MCHB team for putting on our event. Thank you ~ Jayme Hiller
