We have had an amazing start to the school year at NSE and we cannot thank the community, students, and staff for the wonderful welcome. There is already a shift in the air as Fall settles in, but the sun is still shining as we welcome Thanksgiving and Halloween this month.

The Terry Fox was a tremendous success, our school community raised $704.00 dollars, sparking an appearance by the Super Sabre and the New Sarepta Flash. Students participated in our Truth and Reconciliation last week. A huge thank you to Mary Anne Lippiatt for sharing her storytelling gift with all of our students on Wednesday. The week concluded with Orange Shirt Day on Thursday, September 28th. It was incredible to see the sea of orange take over our building.

We are looking forward to the changing season and another incredible month at NSE.

    Terry Fox Run 2023

On September 22, NSES staff and students ran a route around New Sarepta. This year our school community raised $704.00 for the Terry Fox Foundation. We achieved our $500 goal and as a result, Mr. Froland and the teachers were looking rather SUPER on our run day.

Thank you to all staff and students who fundraised, participated, and dressed in superhero attire! We love the awareness that participation in this event brings to all.

    Lifetouch School Photos

Lifetouch Photography is excited to announce the launch of a new and easy way to access photos online. After much safety and security testing, Lifetouch developed a way for families to access their child’s photo using their student ID number. Go to our website at www.mylifetouch.ca, click on Student ID and follow the detailed instructions to view and order photos.

If you have any questions on this ordering process, please call the Lifetouch Customer Care Line at 1.866.457.8212 or access the live chat on our website, www.mylifetouch.ca.

Parents can still access their photos online by using their child’s portrait ID and access code. Enabling the option of using your child’s student ID number, gives parents a way to access photos if they lose their proof sheet.

Lifetouch Rewards for families! Discounts and information directly to parents about photo days at your school when parents sign up for Lifetouch Rewards at my.lifetouch.ca.

Black Gold School Division uses the Hour Zero School Emergency Program to prepare for and respond to emergencies. A detailed summary of the program can be located in the BGDS Emergency Program Brochure.

It is important that staff and students keep our training up-to-date in order for our emergency response to be effective. As such, we will be conducting a number of drills throughout the year. This month, staff and students will engage in Evacuation, Shelter in Place, and Lock Down drills. Students will be notified on the morning announcements of the drill and staff will work with their classes in advance to ensure they are aware of the procedure and also to reduce stress around the event. Please contact the office if you have any questions about our emergency response drills.

Kick off the school year with peace of mind!

    Character Education Team 2023-2024

Hi everyone! We are your Character Education Team for the 2023/2024 school year. My name is Mrs. Jayme Hiller I am the WIST/Grade 3 teacher here at New Sarepta. Miss Jenna Bosch is our success coach with the Mental Health Capacity Building. On Thursdays we teach our students CEC (Character Education Class) about social and emotional learning. For the month of September we did a lesson on connecting with our classmates and finding something in common. We have also been talking about Terry Fox and his amazing characteristics. Terry was caring, had courage, fairness, empathy, honesty, integrity and perseverance. We gave students an opportunity to play outdoor games and “Try Like Terry” at the activities. Students also will have conversations around who is their hero and who has made an impact on them. At the end of September we will be reading “With Our Orange Hearts” By Phyllis Webstad. Having discussions with our students about Orange Shirt Day and creating hearts for our bulletin board.

We have had an awesome month of September and look forward to the fun in October. ~~~ Jayme Hiller and Jenna Bosch
