    May Admin Message

In the spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside of 24 hours. – Mark Twain

As we stride into the vibrant month of May, it is a wonderful time to reflect on the amazing events and achievements over the last month.

Our tremendous athletes in Grades 5 and 6 represented our school well in two exhilarating Floor Hockey Tournaments. The events were a showcase of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. I’m extremely proud of both teams for their outstanding performances and for continuing to demonstrate New Sarepta’s values—well-done teams.

The oratory event was amazing to be part of. All students took up the challenge of presenting a poem or written work to the class, with several students performing at our Oratory assembly on April 24th. This platform serves as a stage for our eloquent speakers to articulate their thoughts, ideas, and passions. Natasha Dimmock wowed the crowd with her delivery of “My Classroom is a Zoo.” There is no doubt she is one to watch and I’m sure one day she will have a podcast. Chase Cameron’s presentation “If Not Now…Then When?” inspired us to reflect on how technology influences our choices in life. He motivated me to reflect and think about seizing the day and embracing challenges.

These events not only foster a sense of camaraderie but also provide valuable opportunities for personal growth and development. A huge thank you to all the students who participated.

As always, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and enthusiastic students for their continued commitment to excellence.

    Warm regards,
    Rob Froland

    A Visit from Fred Fox

Fred Fox will be visiting NSES on May 7 on a Gratitude Tour for schools who are supporters of the Terry Fox Run.

Fred Fox never imagined that he would take part in one of the most inspiring stories in Canadian history when he watched his brother Terry set out on his Marathon of Hope in April of 1980.  He had the opportunity to join Terry a couple of times on the road that summer and watch as Canadians embraced his brother in a remarkable way. Fred’s commitment to Terry’s cancer research legacy never wavered, leading the Terry Fox Foundation’s BC Office from 1994 to 2001 and then moving to the National Office in 2009 to serve as Manager of Supporter Relations.

Fred speaks at schools and community events throughout the year to share his personal story about growing up with Terry and some of his memories of his brother’s run in 1980. Fred is deeply committed to his role and never misses the opportunity to thank the many volunteers that have made the Foundation the success that it is today, raising over $850 million for cancer research.

In addition, together with his siblings, Fred has worked tirelessly to help oversee and protect Terry’s legacy for future generations. He was a member of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program Board of Directors. Fred is married to his wife Theresa and is the father to their 3 grown children, Terrance, Kirsten & Erin, and has 3 grandchildren Jonah, Phoebe, and Adelina.

    Scholastic Book Fair

Thank you to all the parents, guardians, and students that came to shop at the book fair! It has been a huge success, and I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our wonderful school community! The GRAND total came to $3583.87, which allows us an incredible $2125.33 worth of new books for the library! Congratulations to Cheyanne Guderjan and Mrs. Klassen, who each won $25 worth of books in the Family Event Door Prize Draw. We also wish to congratulate all the students that won one of the display posters as a door prize. Thank you, parents, students, and teachers for generously supporting this library fundraiser.
    Sincerely, Mrs. Noble
