LRC Free Family Pass
NSES has Family Passes to the Leduc Recreation Centre for our families to borrow. A parent or guardian can reserve one at [email protected]. Passes can be borrowed for 1-week and will be loaned from Friday to Thursday. Lost/late passes may have a charge for replacement.
Student of the Week: Each week teachers choose a student from their class who has demonstrated growth or improvement, or has cause for celebration, in an area of the teacher’s choice (eg. academic performance, social skills, behavior).
Student of the Month: At the beginning of each month the principal identifies a character trait that will be recognized in students. At the end of the month teachers then choose a student from their class for the award. (Examples of character traits recognized: Honesty, Respect, Manners & Politeness, Effort, Responsibility, Showing Kindness, Being Punctual.)
Artwork Recognition: Each classroom has a picture frame at one of our school entrances which contains exceptional student artwork. Students receive an art award certificate if their artwork is chosen to be showcased.
Oratory: First place finishers, in Grades 2 – 4, of our yearly oratory competition recite their poem to the school at a special assembly. First place finishers in Gr. 5s & 6s present their 2 minute speech. Students placing first – third place and Honourable Mentions receive a certificate as well. Grade 1 students present a choral speech as a class.
Science Olympics: Certificates are presented to the top three teams in each class for their performance and cooperation in our Science Olympics which is held every second school year.
Airbands: Gr. 6s receive awards for their musical performance in our yearly Airband Competition (lip sync contest). Trophies are given for: 1st Overall, 2nd Overall, Best Female & Male Lead Singer, Best Drummer, Best Instrumentalist, Best Costumes/Props, Best Choreography.
Gr. 1 – 6 School Track Meet: Students receive 1st – 3rd place ribbons based on their performance in events at the school track meet. (Additional ribbons may be given out to students, based on criteria of: best effort, best participation, best good sport, etc.)
Recognition for special accomplishments in the area of contests/competitions, and sports is done through intercom announcements, school newsletter, pictures hung up in the hallway, the local newspapers and assemblies.
