A Message from the Principal
Welcome back to another exciting school year! I hope you all had a restful and rejuvenating summer break. As we embark on this new academic year, I want to warmly welcome our returning families and those joining us for the first time. We are thrilled to have you in our New Sarepta Elementary School community.
What’s New This Year?
New Staff Members:
We are excited to welcome Mrs. White, our new Assistant Principal, to our team. Her wealth of experience and enthusiasm will support our student’s learning experiences, and I’m excited about her becoming a part of our fantastic culture at NSE. Welcome, Mrs. White.
Facility Updates:
Over the summer, we have made a small change to our learning commons between our grade 5 and 6 classes. We opened the space by removing a half wall initially designed for a computer lab. The facilities department supported our school by replacing the floor throughout this section of the school. This allows our students to have a great alternative learning environment.

Tips for a Successful School Year
- Attendance: Regular attendance is crucial for student success. Please ensure your child arrives on time and is ready to learn daily. Thank you for communicating when your child is away due to sickness or planned events.
- Communication: Regularly check our school website, newsletters, and emails. Don’t hesitate to contact teachers or staff with any questions or concerns.
- Involvement: We encourage you to get involved in our school community. Join the Parent Council and PIIE (Partners Involved In Education), volunteer, or attend school events whenever possible.
Final Thoughts
We are committed to providing your child with a safe, supportive, and enriching environment. Together, we can make this school year one of growth, learning, and achievement. Let’s work hand in hand to ensure that every student thrives.

If you have any questions on this ordering process, please call the Lifetouch Customer Care Line at 1.866.457.8212 or access the live chat on our website, www.mylifetouch.ca.
Parents can still access their photos online by using their child’s portrait ID and access code. Enabling the option of using your child’s student ID number, gives parents a way to access photos if they lose their proof sheet.

Thank You!!!
New Sarepta Elementary would like to send a special thank you to the Alberta Health Services Mental Health Capacity Building Group for the fabulous summer camps offered in our community in July. Our students were able to participate in Lego Camp, Creative Mash Up and on July 10th a teen program creating cake pops. Our families also had an opportunity to attend the Teddy Bear Picnic and Family Park Pop Ups. We feel very fortunate for the wonderful opportunities our students were able to enjoy as part of a fun filled summer.
Milk Program Begins – September 10
NSES will offer white and chocolate milk for students at lunchtime. Milk cards are available for purchase on your child’s PowerSchool account. You are also welcome to send cash to the office. There are 10 for $12.50 cards and 20 for $25 cards available to buy.
Nutrition Program – Muffins
One of the new initiatives we will have this year through the nutrition program is restarting the Muffin program. We hope to add other items to the program throughout the year. As always, we will have fresh fruit & veggies available for student snacks.
Please make sure your child’s allergy/medical information is up to date at all times. We will post or send out the recipe ingredients that we plan to use when we make them. If you have any concerns, please contact the office.
This is a family recipe of Mrs. Morris and to start, we will be making them with rolled oats and chocolate chips. To make some gluten free, I will be using oat flour in place of wheat flour.
Terry Fox Run – 2024
Last school year we were blessed to have Terry Fox’s brother, Fred Fox, visit our school for an assembly. Fred Fox spoke to our students about resiliency and never giving up.
New Sarepta Elementary School will be participating in this year’s Terry Fox School Run for cancer research on Friday, September 27th. Our rainout day will be Thursday, October 3rd. We are proud to continue the legacy of one of our country’s greatest heroes.
The theme for Terry Fox 2024 is “No Matter What.” NSE will be celebrating with a ‘DONUT give up’ theme this year. For every $50 dollars raised a staff member has agreed to participate in a challenge. Mr. Froland has agreed that if we raise $500.00 he will dress in a donut costume for the run, as well as participate in the challenge.
All donations are accepted on the Terry Fox Website. You can find the link below. You can also search for our school by clicking on the Terry Fox School run and type New Sarepta Elementary.
The students will also be receiving a donut at the end of the run. We hope you will join us and support this wonderful cause by donating to the Terry Fox Foundation. Thank you!
