Froland, R.

Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you know, if a collective agreement is not reached, teachers will commence a full strike on Monday, October 6th. This labour action will impact all public, francophone and catholic schools in Alberta.  We understand that this situation may be challenging and uncertain for families.

What a strike means is that teachers, assistant principals, and principals will not be at school starting Monday, and without teachers, we cannot have students in the building. Thankfully, our excellent support staff will be able to continue working, but without our teachers, schools cannot legally provide instruction to students. Thank you to all our staff and parents for the fantastic job you do every day for our students. We hope this strike is resolved as soon as possible and that we can be back together soon.

In the meantime, to keep informed, please refer to BGSD communication and NSE’s website, where information can be found under the Labour Action Updates tab. Thank you for your understanding and kindness as we navigate this together.

Kindest Regards,

Rob Froland, Principal

Terry Fox Run 2025

The theme for Terry Fox 2025 is “Finish It - Try Like Terry!” NSE celebrated with a Finish It theme this year and encouraged families to get active together. Our school community reached 1,217.2 kilometers. The challenge allowed families to work toward a collective kilometer goal. The main objective was to enjoy the time together, make new memories, and foster a love of activity.

Congratulations to our top four students for tracking the most kilometres in September: Luke L., Bennett P., Sawyer D., and Stella N.! A special shout-out to the Patterson Family, our top-performing family, who collectively ran or walked over 80 km during the month!

A special thank you to Camrose Bowling and the Wetaskiwin Manluk Regional Aquatics and Fitness Centre for generously donating family passes. Way to go, NSE!

Please report absences in advance using SafeArrival instead of sending notes or calling/emailing the school.

Nutrition Program

The Muffin Days program will be starting again this fall. To make some gluten aware, we will use oat flour in place of wheat flour. The office will reach out to contact all known food sensitivities. If you don't receive a message, please contact the office directly.

NSES always has fresh fruit & veggies available for student snacks.

Please make sure your child’s allergy/medical information is up to date at all times. Also, if you have any concerns, please contact the office.

Recipes that are used will be posted here for you to review.

Milk Program

NSES offers white and chocolate milk for students at lunchtime. Milk cards are available for purchase on your child’s PowerSchool account. You are also welcome to send cash to the office. As costs have increased, we have to adjust the price of milk this year. There are 10 for $15.00 cards and 20 for $30 cards available to buy.

NSES Lost & Found

Lost & found items are located just outside the office. Please remind your children to check it regularly, and if you are at school, remember to have a look. All items not claimed will be donated periodically throughout the school year.

Li’l Buckaroo Design – Spirit Wear

We are fortunate to have an amazing local business that provides NSES Sabre Spirit Wear to our school community. If you want to add to your collection, check out the website & see all the fabulous designs.
